Download Jenee Halstead’s newly released single “Raised by Wolves” off her forthcoming third release of the same title, due out August 13. Her charming soprano voice drives home a message of strength while healing old wounds.
Everyone carries baggage with them or has a skeleton in their closet, but the people that can rise up above life’s trying times and move forward are the ones that can begin to heal. Jenee Halstead, who experienced abuse as a child has begun the healing process by recording this song. “I had a realization or epiphany one day that came over me like a peaceful wave that only lasted a second,” Halstead said. ”There was a warm thought that said to me that no one could ever hurt me that way I had been hurt in the past and that anything I experience as an adult was my choice and ultimately I was not a victim.
Fact. Should have gone.
All these pictures of Brand New at Bamboozle are breaking my heart:c :c
This song makes me feel incredibly sad. But at the same time, it’s such an amazing song. I heard it for the first time a few days ago and after letting it sit and resonate, I am finally able to post about it. It has always intrigued me how a guy with his guitar can say so much with so little resources. I think the best songs are the ones that make you cry. The ones that elicit so much emotion and passion, while being simplistic. Maybe because tragedy is easy to relate to? I can’t help but wonder…Mr. Hull, are you okay? It also amazes me that music can trigger so many emotions. I feel like this song caught me off guard. I wasn’t ready for how much it would affect me. The goosebump factor was high on this one. There is no real point to this rant, other than music astounds me. I think this could make for an interesting study or thesis. The effects a sad song vs. a happy song have on the brain . Somebody conduct this study, so I can read it. In any case, thank you Mr. Hull! This is definitely one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.

Do yourself a favor and listen to this. You’re welcome.
How have I not heard this before? Love the simplicity of this song. It’s precious!
“But I guess it is true to say you never knew I wasn’t even ever half in love with you.”

Hey #MusicMonday peeps, it’s time to get your free music fix! Check out Kyle Adem, recommended to those who love Manchester Orchestra and Conor Oberst.
With an opening straight out of a southern thriller, Kyle Adem’s cinematic song, “Brother, Follow,” is dramatic in its instrumentation - hammer dulcimer, stomping percussion - as well as its lyrics - if you’re not chanting along with the chorus by the end, you haven’t been listening. A lush folk arrangement, sung with a punk’s outraged power and a clear-eyed critical look at the way we’re told to see the world. “Brother, Follow” easily matches the intensity and poignancy of the best Bright Eyes tune. The song can be found on Adem’s forthcoming album, armour., due out on July 24th through Ghost Motel Records.
